The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in a rapid shift in the delivery of scientific educational content from in-person workshops, seminars, and one-on-one tutorials to virtual platforms. However, the majority of shared resource leaders are not formally trained in best practices of curriculum design, online education, and scientific communication. This workshop will give shared resource personnel the tools to effectively design and deliver educational content in a virtual environment, with an emphasis on video creation. While useful during the current pandemic, the skills learned in this workshop will be useful to support sustainability of educational content in the future.

Speakers:

  • Kendra H. Oliver, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Pharmacology, Basic Sciences School of Medicine and in Communication of Science and Technology (CSET), College of Arts and Sciences

  • Jenny C. Schafer, Ph.D., Managing Director, Cell Imaging Shared Resource, Research Assistant Professor, Cell and Developmental Biology, Vanderbilt University
